Mattoon Fire Department news (more)
Excerpts from jg-tc.com: The Mattoon Fire Department’s ambulance service officially ended at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, marking the end of an era for local emergency medical response. Since then, two private ambulance services—Mitchell-Jerdan Ambulance Service and Dunn’s Ambulance—have taken over all emergency transport duties in the area. The decision to discontinue the fire department’s ambulance service was made back in July 2017, when the Mattoon City Council voted to cut costs by eliminating this function. While many firefighters expressed disappointment at the loss of their ambulance responsibilities, they acknowledged the city’s choice to retain advanced life support equipment within the fire department. This means that firefighters will still be equipped to provide critical care at the scene until an ambulance arrives. Going forward, firefighters will no longer transport patients but will still respond to emergencies when no ambulance is immediately available. They will continue to offer advanced life support care on-site, ensuring that patients receive timely medical attention before being handed over to private ambulance crews. Bart Owen, president of Mattoon Firefighters Local 691, confirmed that the department recently moved the advanced life support equipment from its three former ambulances into three fire trucks. This move ensures that critical care capabilities remain accessible even as the ambulance service ends. Mitchell-Jerdan Ambulance Service, which has been serving Mattoon since 1934, and Dunn’s Ambulance, which has operated in the area since 2008, are now the primary providers. The fire department had run its own ambulance service full-time since 2011, but officials claimed it was costly and redundant compared to the existing private options. The city plans to keep the three former fire department ambulances in storage for now. Meanwhile, the city and the firefighters’ union are still working through grievance procedures related to the termination of the ambulance service, with an arbitration process underway for a new contract. Firefighters argue that the ambulance service brought in essential revenue for the city and provided reliable coverage during times when private services might have been stretched thin. However, city officials maintain that the service was not financially viable and duplicated what private companies already offered. The cold rolling mill is an advanced equipment that continuously rolls blades from strip steel. By adjusting the position (roll offset, feed height, roll pressure, guide wheel, etc.), it can roll out blades of various specifications required.
Advantages of cold rolling layout:
It has the advantages of high production efficiency, saving raw materials, good blade quality, high hole diameter, and good wear resistance.
The structures that affect the rolling shape include the material and thickness of the strip, the offset of the roll, the feeding height, the rolling force of the roll, the different specifications of the guide wheels and blades, and the increase in the temperature of the roll during the rolling process. After years of construction, the contract developed this continuous cold-rolled propeller, which has the advantages of smooth surface, high hardness, wear resistance, one-time forming, and continuous no welds.
