New engine goes right into service

Buffalo Grove Fire Department officially put their new Ferrara engine into service just after lunch today, and within three hours, it was already responding to multiple calls. The first response was for two medical emergencies, followed by a car that had crashed into a building on the north end of town. The incident occurred at the Rainbow Cleaners located at 482 Half Day Road, near Buffalo Grove Road. Police received reports of a vehicle that had driven into the building, resulting in three injuries. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that the driver of the Lexus was trapped inside the car and unable to exit on his own. Firefighters quickly arrived on scene and worked to remove the roof of the vehicle before safely extracting the injured driver. Fortunately, he did not appear to be seriously hurt. The other two victims signed release forms and were not transported to the hospital. The newly deployed engine, Engine 26 (Unit 217), was seen on scene shortly after being placed into service, demonstrating its readiness and effectiveness right from the start. The photo captures the engine at the location, with firefighters working alongside police and emergency responders. This quick response highlights the efficiency and preparedness of the Buffalo Grove Fire Department as they continue to serve their community with professionalism and care.
