An open letter received – Chicago Safety; Re: George Floyd

Dear CFD Engine 94 Team, I hope this message finds you well. First and foremost, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your unwavering service during the ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Your dedication on the frontlines has not gone unnoticed, and it’s a true privilege to see such commitment in action. In addition to the global health crisis, our country is currently grappling with deep emotional wounds stemming from the tragic death of George Floyd. As a clinical psychologist based in Chicago, I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with individuals navigating grief, trauma, and systemic pain. What we are witnessing across Minnesota and other parts of the country is not just unrest—it's a collective response to years of racial injustice, systemic oppression, and unhealed trauma. It’s essential that these emotions—heartbreak, anger, and frustration—are not dismissed or minimized. Trauma doesn’t just live in the past; it shapes how people respond in the present. For many, the protests are a way of expressing what words alone cannot convey. In such moments, it’s crucial that those in positions of authority approach the situation with empathy, understanding, and a trauma-informed perspective. While I could elaborate further on the nuances of trauma-sensitive responses, I know your time is limited. So, here’s a simple but meaningful idea: what if members of law enforcement, fire departments, and other emergency responders wore or displayed messages that reflect the sentiments of the protesters? For example, wearing a sign that says “I Can’t Breathe” on your uniform or vehicle, or displaying a “Black Lives Matter” flag alongside a “Again?” banner. These visual symbols can communicate a powerful message: “We see you. We hear you. We are here to help, not to silence.” This small gesture could go a long way in reducing the sense of threat that often accompanies large public gatherings. It could shift the dynamic from one of confrontation to one of solidarity—showing that while we may have different roles, we share the same goal: to keep everyone safe and to acknowledge the pain that exists in our communities. Thank you again for your service, and for considering this perspective. I truly believe that small changes can lead to meaningful shifts in how we connect with each other during times of crisis. 1ton -10ton Endless Round Sling

Polyester round sling is a versatile, convenient, and cost-effective way to lift a variety of cargo.
Manufactured in the CHINA from a continuous loop of polyester yarn, round slings are covered with a durable polyester fabric that is color-coded by capacity. The flexible, pliable design of a round sling allows it to adjust to the contours and hug a load better than other types of lifting slings. The round sling polyester fabric has less stretch than a nylon lifting sling, which prevents the sling from locking up on the load when used in a choker hitch. Because polyester round slings are manufactured using a continuous strand of polyester fiber, it creates exceptional strength. Both eye & eye and endless round slings can be used in vertical, choker, or basket hitches, so they're ideal for a wide variety of applications.
