Reporter Feng Shujuan recently reported that the "Guidelines for Priority Areas for High-tech Industrialization in Current Development (2004)" were officially released. This document, jointly revised by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Commerce, outlines key areas for technological advancement and industrial growth. Among the ten major categories covering 134 high-tech fields, six automotive-related projects are highlighted.
These include "car electronics products," "high-performance sealing materials," "vital raw materials for radial tire production," "fuel cells," "car key parts," and "clean energy vehicles." These initiatives are listed at positions 22, 48, 64, 75, and 126 in the guidelines. The government agencies involved have pledged to implement specific policies and measures to support research, development, and the industrialization of these technologies, as well as their import and export.
The industrialization focus on "car key parts" includes automatic transmissions, high-performance braking systems, airbags, electronic fuel injection (EFI) systems, energy-efficient air conditioning systems, large aluminum alloy covers, and automotive electronics accessories. It also covers small-displacement high-performance gasoline engines, passenger car diesel engines, and medium- and heavy-duty vehicle diesel engines.
Under "clean energy vehicles," the list includes natural gas-powered cars, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), methanol, ethanol, dimethyl ether, pure electric, and hybrid vehicles, as well as low-sulfur synthetic and ultra-low emission clean vehicles and their components. Additionally, intelligent transportation systems and specialized highway container vehicles have been identified as key areas for near-term industrial development.
This initiative reflects a strategic push towards innovation and sustainability in the automotive sector, aiming to strengthen China's position in global high-tech manufacturing.
