Reporter Feng Shujuan recently reported that the "Guidelines for Priority Areas for High-tech Industrialization in Current Development (2004)" were officially released. The document, jointly revised by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Commerce, outlines key areas for high-tech development and industrialization. Notably, six major projects within the automotive industry are highlighted in the guidelines.
Among the 134 key areas listed, several directly relate to the automotive sector, including "car electronics products," "high-performance sealing materials," "vital raw materials for radial tire production," "fuel cells," "car key parts," and "clean energy vehicles." These are featured as items 22, 48, 64, 75, and 126 respectively.
The guidelines aim to guide the development and industrialization of advanced technologies in the auto industry. In response, the three government departments will implement policies and measures to support research, development, and the import and export of high-tech products. This includes promoting innovation and ensuring the growth of critical automotive components and clean energy vehicle technologies.
Recent focus areas include car key parts such as automatic transmissions, high-performance braking systems, airbags, electronic fuel injection (EFI) systems, energy-efficient air conditioning units, large light alloy covers, and automotive electronics. Additionally, small-displacement high-performance gasoline engines, passenger car diesel engines, and medium- and heavy-duty vehicle diesel engines are also emphasized.
Under the "Clean Energy Vehicles" category, various alternative fuel options are included, such as compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), methanol, ethanol, dimethyl ether, pure electric, and hybrid vehicles. The guidelines also cover low-sulfur synthetic fuels and ultra-low emission vehicles and their components.
Moreover, intelligent transportation systems and specialized highway container vehicles have been identified as key areas for near-term industrialization. This initiative reflects a broader push toward sustainable, high-tech, and efficient transportation solutions in China.
