Autodesk Expands Learning Resources to Boost Digital Skills of Construction Teams in the Office, Trailer and Field
New initiatives aim to develop tech skills in the current workforce and encourage a new and diverse generation to consider construction as a career SAN FRANCISCO, July 20, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — In response to the growing demand for digital skills within the construction industry, Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) has launched two groundbreaking programs aimed at upskilling current workers and attracting a new wave of talent. These initiatives are part of a broader effort to help the construction sector adapt to an increasingly technology-driven future. The construction industry is currently facing a severe labor shortage and a widening digital skills gap. According to a recent survey by the Associated General Contractors of America and Autodesk, 89% of U.S. construction firms struggle to fill hourly craft positions, while 86% have difficulty finding qualified salaried workers. Globally, similar challenges persist, with many companies reporting delays due to staffing shortages. This situation highlights the urgent need for training and development opportunities that can bridge this gap. To address these challenges, Autodesk has introduced two new learning platforms: the Construction Master Class and the Autodesk Construction Cloud Learning Center. Both are free and accessible to all, offering valuable resources to professionals at every stage of their careers. The Construction Master Class features online tutorials led by industry experts, covering practical insights into workflows, project management, and career growth. These videos offer real-world examples and lessons learned, helping participants improve cost control, quality management, and collaboration on construction sites. Meanwhile, the Autodesk Construction Cloud Learning Center provides easy-to-follow courses in five languages, focusing on how to use Autodesk’s construction software tools. From setting up project templates to managing RFIs and submittals, the center equips users with the skills needed to succeed in digital construction environments. Since its launch in 2021, the Learning Center has attracted over 42,000 enrollments from more than 134 countries. In addition to these programs, Autodesk has launched several other initiatives to support the industry. The Autodesk Membership Training Provider Program partners with trade unions and associations to enhance digital skills through access to Autodesk software. The Make It Real program encourages young people to explore design thinking and real-world construction challenges, offering funding and educational support to inspire the next generation of builders. “The demand for digitally skilled workers is growing rapidly,†said Ronald McGuire, program administrator at the International Training Institute. “Autodesk’s resources will help us upskill our members and equip new workers with the tools they need to succeed.†Allison Scott, director of customer experience at Autodesk, added, “With many experienced workers retiring, the industry must act quickly to attract and train new talent. Our learning initiatives are designed to help companies stay competitive during this period of transformation.†Autodesk continues to lead the way in empowering the construction industry with innovative tools and education. By investing in training and development, the company is not only supporting its customers but also shaping the future of construction for generations to come.
