It is well known that the coating is a brittle material, and as the thickness of the coating increases, the bonding strength with the substrate decreases, and the coating tends to peel off during cutting (especially during intermittent cutting). The composite coating of GC4225 has an improved anti-flaking performance when the Al2O3 coating is thickened. This is mainly because of the special surface treatment, on the one hand, the bonding strength of the Al2O3 coating is improved, and on the other hand, the rake face of the blade becomes a dense ultra-smooth surface, which improves the lubrication ability of the blade during cutting.
In the interrupted cutting process of the crankshaft, the GC4225 coated tool exhibits better cutting performance and longer tool life than the P25 cemented carbide tool under conditions of increased depth of cut and feed rate, increased cutting speed, etc. Better results have been achieved in terms of improving processing efficiency, product quality, and lowering production costs.
