Fans play a crucial role in the tobacco industry, yet domestically produced fans often suffer from low efficiency, high noise levels, poor wear resistance, and limited corrosion resistance. In response to these challenges, the Yunnan Provincial School has developed wind turbines that have successfully passed expert evaluation and now match the performance of imported products.
In 2000, the Yunnan Tobacco Machinery Factory and Xi'an Jiaotong University jointly launched the "Localization of Imported Series Fans for Large-scale Tobacco Re-bake Lines" project under the Yunnan Provincial Science and Technology Cooperation Program. The team focused on centrifugal and axial flow fan series, conducting extensive tests on impeller anti-wear and corrosion resistance, as well as reliability assessments. As a result, they developed eight series of fan products tailored for the tobacco industry, along with application packages. The project was officially accepted by an expert panel organized by Yunnan Province's Department of Science and Technology on January 6 this year.
The expert group praised the performance of the fans, stating that they are comparable to imported models. Installed at the Zhaotong Cigarette Factory in Yunnan, these fans replaced two imported units. During field testing, they operated continuously without failure for over 6,000 hours, demonstrating low noise, minimal wear, and significantly lower costs. Their ease of industrialization and overall performance make them a superior alternative to imported fans.
As one of Yunnan Province’s key industries, the tobacco sector stands to benefit greatly from the localization of fan technology. This advancement not only reduces production costs but also enhances the competitiveness of both the tobacco and fan manufacturing sectors, helping them capture a larger market share. By promoting local innovation, Yunnan is taking a significant step toward sustainable and efficient industrial development.
