SI Group to build phenolic resin plant in Nanjing

The SI Group, headquartered in New York, USA, said on February 3 that it will invest US$30 million in the construction of a phenolic resin plant in the Nanjing Chemical Industry Park, and it is expected to start production in May 2013. The initial capacity of the plant will be 30,000 tons/year, and it can be expanded to 70,000 tons/year in the future. The Nanjing production base will produce phenolic resin in the form of lumps, lozenges, liquids, and powders. Target applications include the rubber and refractory materials industries. The company had spent US$1.5 million in 2011 to establish rubber and phenolic resin applications in Songjiang, Shanghai
