Southwestern Illinois College Fire Science Program receives vintage fire engine
Excerpts from riverbend.com: "It's incredibly rewarding to support the next generation of firefighters," said Lougeay. "Helping them develop the skills they need not only benefits them personally but also ensures the safety of our communities. It’s a privilege to contribute to such a strong program in our area." The truck was originally purchased by Lougeay from the Willisville Fire Department in 2002. He used it for parades and antique fire truck exhibitions before deciding to donate it to SWIC. The vehicle will now be housed at the Clay Baitman Fire Science Center in Belleville, where all the fire science courses are conducted. Each year, the program produces over 30 new firefighters who go on to serve their communities. SWIC offers a two-year Associate in Applied Science degree in Fire Science, with two specialized options and 11 different certificate programs. These programs provide students with comprehensive training in emergency response, fire prevention, and public safety.
