Roots vacuum pump impeller clearance adjustment

Our company overhauled the Roots vacuum pump in the LSC0632GSHI vehicle mounted vacuum suction unit. The pump is imported from Japan and there is no technical information.

The Roots vacuum pump has three gaps: a radial gap between the impeller and the pump housing; an axial gap between the impeller and the pump housing; and a clearance between the impeller working surfaces. For the first two clearance adjustment easier, and for the impeller working surface clearance can be adjusted as follows.

Rotate the impeller shaft by hand, and use the dial gauge to measure the clearance value when the impeller is at the minimum clearance (), and then fix one of the impellers. The other impeller is at the gap value of 1/2, and the two transmission gears are fixed on the shaft. Then make the disc brakes. After hearing the friction sounds on the surfaces of the two impellers, loosen the gear fixing nut, fine-tune the impeller, and then tighten the nuts. According to this method, generally after 2-3 times can be adjusted.

After the car had no sound, empty test was conducted.

The gap between the working surfaces of the two impellers is affected by the backlash of the transmission gear on the impeller shaft. When the meshing side clearance of the gear pair approaches the gap between the two impeller working surfaces, the two transmission gears should be replaced.
