Glenview FD apparatus updates

The Glenview Fire Department has recently acquired two new units, marking an important step in modernizing its fleet. First, a Type I ambulance from Medtec (Model M-170) is on order and will be delivered on an IHC 4300 chassis in early November. This unit will feature a slightly larger body compared to the current models, along with a modified paint scheme. It will replace Ambulance 6, which is currently in service. The existing Ambulance 6 will be moved to reserve status, and the older Freightliner/Road Rescue unit will be retired. In addition, Truck 14 is set to receive a 2013 Pierce Arrow XT 100′ rear-mount quint in February. This new apparatus will include roll-up doors similar to the current 2003 Pierce Dash model, a 1,500-GPM pump, 400 gallons of water, and two 25-gallon foam cells. The cab will maintain the same configuration as the department’s engine units, while the extended front bumper will house hydraulic extrication tools. New photos have been added to Station 6's website, including a fresh image of Ambulance 6 and a previously unlisted photo of Engine 6. These updates give residents and visitors a better look at the department’s current equipment. A new image of Ambulance 6 shows the 2007 IHC 4300/Medtec Type I in action, captured by Larry Shapiro. Another photo highlights Engine 6, a 2010 Pierce Arrow XT 1500/400/10/40 rescue pumper, which is nearly identical in design to Engine 8, which was purchased in 2009. Finally, Glenview Squad 6 has been decommissioned and is now available for sale. A recent photo of the unit was also added to the site, showing it in its final days of service. This update reflects ongoing efforts to maintain a reliable and up-to-date emergency response system.
