BYD K9 pure electric bus put into operation in Chile

Recently, BYD and Mayo University and its partner Chilectra held the first electric bus line operation ceremony in Chile, which will reduce the carbon emissions from Chile’s capital Santiago’s transportation system.
Chilean Environment Minister MarÃa Ignacia BenÃtez personally tested the BYD pure electric bus K9 from Huechuraba to Escuela Militar, and considered the zero-distance experience with the pure electric bus for the first time as “a great contribution to the advent of the electric bus eraâ€. He stressed that electric buses will save about 2,260 liters of diesel per month, and at the same time, they will be able to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 4 tons. This will undoubtedly become a major contribution to the treatment of environmental pollution. The current series of measures have reached agreement with the development goals of the Ministry of Environment, which has provided favorable conditions for improving the quality of public transport throughout the country. It has also provided high-tech technical support for vehicles currently entering the Chilean domestic market.
As a Chinese auto brand with world-leading electric vehicle core technology, the total operating mileage of the BYD K9 team in Shenzhen has exceeded 19,000,000 kilometers. The successful appearance of the K9 in Chile became another important site for BYD in Latin America following Uruguay, Colombia, Brazil, and Mexico.
The BYD K9 is equipped with a 324kWh battery and has a cruising range of 250km. Compared to the current Transantiago system, it can cover the same distance and can complete the entire journey from San Diego to Talca without interruption.
