Working fire in Arlington Heights, 11-4-20

On Wednesday, November 4, 2020, firefighters from Arlington Heights responded to a smoke alarm at 2415 Kennicott Drive. Upon arrival, the incident was upgraded to a Code 4 due to visible flames on the second floor of one unit. The fire was quickly brought under control, but significant smoke spread throughout the building. Firefighters from Buffalo Grove were also on scene and made several ventilation cuts on the roof to help manage the situation. In addition to the local units, mutual aid support came from Buffalo Grove Quint 25, Rolling Meadows Quint 82, and Prospect Heights Battalion 9.

The fire, though contained quickly, caused considerable damage inside the apartment and led to some displacement of residents. Local officials are working with emergency services to assess the full extent of the damage and ensure the area is safe for reoccupation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. This event highlights the importance of early detection systems and the critical role that first responders play in preventing more serious outcomes.
