The first gyratory crusher patent was applied by American Charles Brown in 1878, and the first grit crusher was made at the Gates Iron Works in 1881. In 1953, Allis-Chalmers of the United States introduced a hydraulic gyratory crusher. In the late 1970s, Rexnord of the United States introduced an ultra-heavy gyratory crusher. In the 1980s, the Swedish Morgards hammer company introduced a new top single-cylinder hydraulic gyratory crusher. In 1984, China's Shenyang Heavy Machinery Plant successfully developed the 1200 light hydraulic gyratory crusher.
At present, domestically produced gyratory crushers are PX500/75～1500/300, PXY500/60～1600/230 and hydraulic light 700/100～1200/150. The rotary crusher is only 1000/50.
