The first type: the traditional way, composed of network camera + power + network cable
This is a more common method, many friends are using, in the integrated wiring, at the same time to the power cord and network cable, the power supply can also take 220V AC, so save power cord, here will not discuss its pros and cons. Power is supplied to each network camera. Then there is a network cable to transmit network data to the network hard disk recorder NVR.


The second type: POE power supply mode, with network camera + POE switch
This saves a power line than the previous method. A network camera can use only one network cable as the medium for transmitting signals, and the power cable is no longer used. The network cable can be used with unshielded super five twisted pairs, and the transmission distance is no problem.

Why do mainstream PoE switches do network monitoring systems now, with the following advantages:
1, saving wire, saving wiring time, saving wiring labor, providing engineering construction efficiency.
2, no power, it does not involve strong electricity, there will be no risk of electric shock, reduce the probability of failure, reduce maintenance costs.
3, reduce the construction difficulty, simple and convenient, easy to get started, the engineering wiring is also more beautiful.
The third type: in the case of long distance, the network camera + fiber + transceiver can transmit farther
Just now we said that the transmission of the network cable is normally within 100 meters. If the transmission exceeds 100 meters, we generally consider using optical fiber transmission. The optical fiber not only has a long transmission distance (can transmit 20 kilometers) but also has a stable effect.
We all know that when the optical fiber transmits data, the data signal is converted into an optical signal transmission, and then the optical signal is converted into a data signal, so that we use the optical transceiver to cooperate to complete the work. Figure:


Fiber optics are cheap and have long transmission distances and are used extensively in surveillance projects. However, the optical fiber needs to be welded, and the welding equipment is expensive, so the general welding needs to be carried out by a special person, which requires a certain cost and requires a certain time. Fiber optic transceivers are available in hundreds of megabits and gigabits, depending on the number of cameras installed.
The fourth type: wireless transmission mode, camera + wireless bridge.
In the implementation environment of the specific monitoring system, if the wiring is difficult to encounter natural barriers or insurmountable obstacles, we can use the wireless transmission method, so that the wireless bridge is used.
For example, communities that have hardened roads, elevators, established factories, open areas far away, fields, etc. are all suitable for wireless transmission.


A wireless bridge converts network signals into radio waves for point-to-point transmission. Used in pairs. Due to point-to-point directional transmission, long-distance wireless transmission can be achieved, from a few hundred meters to tens of kilometers.
Note on the construction of the wireless bridge: there should be no obstruction between the transmitting and receiving ends, and there should be no obstacles. This signal transmission will be stable.
The above four methods are commonly used in the monitoring installation process. The main method is to select according to the environment.
