House fire in Park Ridge, 4-27-16
This is from Larry Shapiro: On Wednesday evening, April 27, 2016, just after 7 PM, Park Ridge firefighters were dispatched to 1205 Hoffman Avenue in response to a reported house fire. Upon arrival, the first units observed heavy smoke coming from the attic of a single-family home and immediately initiated an interior attack. About ten minutes later, the situation escalated to a Code 4 as flames broke through the roof. The fire was quickly brought under control, and all mutual aid companies that hadn't arrived yet were sent back to their stations. No one was injured in the incident. On scene, the responding units included Park Ridge Engines 35 and 36, Ambulances 35 and 36, Rescue and Battalion 36, along with the 3500 unit. Additional support came from Niles Ambulance, Tower 2, North Maine Engine and Battalion 1, Glenview Engine 7, Lincolnwood Ambulance 15, and Rosemont Truck 158. I arrived on scene just as the fire was declared under control. It was a fast-moving fire, but the crews handled it efficiently. The community was lucky this time — no injuries, and the damage was contained to the structure.
