On Sunday evening at 8:30 PM, firefighters from Buffalo Grove were dispatched to 691 Checker Road in response to a reported fire in a second-floor bedroom. As the units were en route, they received updates from the Northwest Cook County Dispatch (NWCD) that a neighbor had spotted flames on the roof, followed by another report of fire on the side of the house. Upon arrival, Battalion 4 observed heavy fire and immediately requested a Code 4 upgrade, indicating a serious situation.
Buffalo Grove crews worked from both the exterior and interior to contain the fire while conducting thorough searches throughout the structure. They were joined at the scene by additional units from Long Grove, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Wheeling, Arlington Heights, Northbrook, and the Buffalo Grove EMA with MobileComm support. Firefighters worked quickly to bring the blaze under control and ensure the safety of all occupants.
The incident occurred on March 12, 2023, and is part of an ongoing effort by local fire departments to respond swiftly to emergencies in the community. The property was assessed for damage, and no injuries were reported. Residents in the area were advised to remain cautious and keep an eye on future updates from local authorities.
