Code 4 fire in Wilmette, 5-28-15

This is from Larry Shapiro:

On Friday afternoon, May 28, 2015, Wilmette firefighters were called to 506 5th Street after a resident reported smoke coming from their second-floor apartment. Upon arrival, crews discovered a small fire in the basement that had started spreading up the pipe chase toward the fourth floor.

The situation quickly escalated, and the alarm was upgraded to a Code 4, signaling a major working fire. This prompted additional units from neighboring communities including Skokie, Winnetka, Glenview, Glencoe, Northbrook, and Evanston to respond. Firefighters worked systematically to open walls on all floors in an effort to contain and extinguish the fire as efficiently as possible.
