Today, members of the Chicago Police Department, alongside Chief of Patrol Fred Waller and Deputy Chief of Community Policing Dwayne Betts, revealed a brand-new look for CPD patrol vehicles—marking the first major redesign in decades. The fresh design was created by Officer Jennifer Jacobucci and chosen through a collaborative process involving both officers and local residents. It features the classic blue and white color scheme, along with the department’s well-known motto: “We Serve & Protect.†In addition to the updated visual style, these new patrol cars come equipped with advanced technology. Officers will now have access to mobile computers that allow them to retrieve real-time data while on duty. Enhanced lighting systems also improve visibility and police presence. Some units, like the one unveiled today, are fitted with license plate reader technology, which helps officers quickly locate stolen vehicles with greater accuracy than ever before. The new fleet is set to be deployed later this year, but you can already see them at the Chicago Auto Show at McCormick Place from February 9 to 18.
