Xinjiang tries to use solar drying equipment to process fruits and vegetables

On September 6, Ma Chunxiu, director of the Agricultural Industrialization Technology Promotion Center of the Agricultural Products Processing Bureau of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (000061, China), introduced 124 units of direct solar thermal drying equipment for fruit and vegetable processing. Each batch can handle 1 to 2 tons of cesium.

According to calculations, the drying time of the device for pods, grapes, tomatoes, peppers and other fruits and vegetables is about 30 hours, and the color retention rate is relatively good, and the finished product has good sanitary quality.

In addition to the natural air-drying, the current drying fruits and vegetables in Xinjiang market use hot air drying room. Since February 2014, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has promoted apricot hot-air drying rooms from southern Xinjiang. Currently, the drying room has been pushed from southern Xinjiang to northern Xinjiang and eastern Xinjiang. It has baked 4,696.22 tons of various types of fruits and vegetables, in addition to apricots. In addition, southern Xinjiang's five states combined with actual conditions also baked a variety of fruits and vegetables, medicinal materials such as mulberry, Chinese wolfberry, melon quince, rose, chrysanthemum, tomato, pepper, oysters and so on.

Since 2016, Jinjiang has fully promoted the hot-air drying room for fruits and vegetables and the cold storage project. It will build 10,000 new drying rooms and 2,000 cold storage facilities. By then, the scale of Xinjiang's hot-air drying fruits and vegetables project will reach 35,000 drying rooms and 6,000 cold-stores in three years.

Dehydration is an important measure to reduce the loss of agricultural products and extend the agricultural industry chain. After the high-quality fruits and vegetables in Xinjiang were dried, they solved the “selling difficulties” problem of agricultural products, promoted industrial upgrading, and accelerated the pace of employment growth for farmers.

The director of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region's Agricultural Products Processing Bureau, Nur Maitti Tuniya, said that from the processing of dried apricots to dehydrated vegetables in Xinjiang, Xinjiang will be transformed from a national "big orchard" to a "fruit and vegetable plate" for the country's people's table.
