**From Eric Haak:**
Saturday afternoon, just before 1 p.m., a compact yet intense thunderstorm rolled through the southern part of Chicago. The storm unleashed heavy rainfall, accompanied by a brief but powerful gust of wind that hit the area near Longwood Drive in the Beverly neighborhood. This sudden burst of wind caused a large tree branch to snap off and crash onto power lines located behind a substantial house. Witnesses reported seeing flames erupt near the base of the building's exterior wall, quickly spreading upward into the attic. Firefighters arrived swiftly, managing to bring the blaze under control within about 15 minutes.
While the situation could have been worse, it served as a stark reminder of how quickly weather conditions can escalate into dangerous situations. For those who don’t frequently visit this part of the city, I wanted to share some photos of the firefighting effort. These images capture the hard work and dedication of the Chicago Fire Department in action.

As always, it’s crucial to keep an eye on weather updates and take precautions during severe storms. Kudos to the firefighters for their quick response and containment efforts—these professionals truly make all the difference when emergencies arise.
