With these questions, the reporter interviewed Guo Youzhi, secretary general of the China Film Industry Association.

Membrane industry output doubled in 3 years

According to Guo Youzhi, the research and application of membrane technology in China has gone through a history of nearly 40 years. A group of research and development teams including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the State Oceanic Administration, chemical system research institutes and universities, etc., track the frontier of membrane technology. In the preparation and application of electrodialysis membranes, reverse osmosis membranes, ultrafiltration membranes, microfiltration membranes, etc. have a considerable scale and a certain level. The rapid economic growth in China provides a rare opportunity for the development of the membrane industry. The application of membrane technology has been rapidly developed. In 1999, the total output value of China's film industry was only about 2.8 billion yuan. Last year it exceeded 10 billion yuan, an increase of 30% over the previous year. Membrane technology industry will maintain this rapid development momentum in the next few years, that is to say double in 3 years, which is unimaginable for other industries.

Rapid development of water treatment applications

In China, the problem of water is rather severe, and the membrane technology has developed rapidly in the field of water treatment. For example, wastewater recycling in the industrial sector is now basically adopting new membrane processing technologies, and double membranes represented by domestic ultrafiltration membrane and reverse osmosis. Law has been widely used.

At present, with the improvement of membrane materials and the optimization of projects, the cost of membrane technology is greatly reduced by treating the wastewater with the double membrane method. A ton of sewage is treated with a membrane method and reused only costs about 1-2 yuan. It is significantly lower than the price for companies to purchase new water, and it also reduces waste water discharge, which can serve two purposes. The reformation of the water system and the soft water station by the membrane technology of Taiyuan Iron and Steel (Group) Co., Ltd., an extremely large joint steel company in China, has become an example of the successful application of membrane technology in the industry. It uses steelmaking industry wastewater as the main source of water, with a treatment capacity of 72,000 tons/day. Taigang's membrane treatment water reuse system renovation project has been promoted in more than 10 large-scale steel enterprises nationwide this year, making China's steel industry a key step towards sustainable development from large emissions and pollution.

In addition, the application of membrane separation technology in the field of environmental protection is also increasing due to its energy-saving, significant separation effect. For example, the sewage drainage system in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area in China has been coated with membrane technology. There are numerous examples of membrane technology applications in the fields of medicine, printing and dyeing, papermaking, electroplating, and oil field reinjection.

The gap can not be ignored

Membrane technology industry is divided into R & D, material manufacturing, engineering application of three processes. China’s strength in membrane science research and development is not weak. Guo Youzhi said that at the World Membrane Technology Conference held in Korea in late August this year, the United States will submit the most reports, followed by Japan, again for China, and the accepted papers are More than 90 articles, which from a certain point of view that our research in the world is a first-class level. The activities in engineering applications have also been carried out in an impressive manner. However, judging from the overall level, the gap between us and the developed countries cannot be ignored. The biggest problem that exists is in the manufacture of membrane materials. Due to insufficient input, the production level of the film production line is relatively low, the environmental conditions are not stable enough, the variety of film materials is small and the quality is not very stable, so the application range of the domestic film is very limited. Most of the domestic membrane materials need to be imported. For example, 100% of the perfluorinated ion exchange membranes used by the chlor-alkali industry need to be imported, 90% of the reverse osmosis membranes need to be imported, and about 50% of ultrafiltration membranes and microfiltration membranes need to be imported.
