Flyability’s 2020 Year in Review—7 Million Euros Raised, Mission to Chernobyl, Data Localization, 21,000+ Webinar Registrants, and More

Even though 2020 was a tough year for everyone, we at Flyability managed to stay pretty busy. Before we get into everything we accomplished last year, we want to extend our best wishes to all our clients, partners, prospects, and supporters around the globe for a great 2021. To kick off the year, we opened our first U.S. office in Denver, Colorado, which allowed us to better support our American customers. By the end of the year, we closed out 2020 with a successful Series C funding round, raising 7 million Euros ($8.6 million USD). These new funds will go towards expanding our work in creating drones specifically for indoor environments and developing software to enhance drone usage for indoor inspections. Towards the end of 2020, we introduced Inspector 3.0, a software tool that lets inspectors pinpoint the exact location of defects found during inspections on a 3D map. This eliminates the guesswork involved in locating flaws, making maintenance work much more efficient. You can check out this video to learn more about Inspector 3.0: [Embed Video] If you're interested in trying out Inspector 3.0, sign up now to become a beta tester. As everyone knows, 2020 was a big year for webinars. Due to social distancing requirements, many conferences moved online, and companies like ours started hosting virtual events so people could continue learning despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. When the initial lockdowns hit in the spring, we transformed our planned Denver User Conference presentations into a series of webinars. We kept this momentum going throughout the rest of the year. In total, we hosted 21 webinars in 2020, attracting over 21,000 registrants and nearly 4,000 attendees. Here are a few highlights from last year: - How to Mitigate Intrinsic Safety - Indoor 3D Modeling Use Cases: Photogrammetry in Action - How to Build and Scale a Drone Program at Your Company - Learn How API and ASME Experts Are Working to Expand Drone Inspection Applications All of our webinars are recorded and available for viewing anytime. Check out the full list [here] (scroll down to the "past webinars" section). Last year, we also published several case studies showcasing how our drone technology is improving safety and saving companies significant amounts of money. Here are some standout examples: **Drone Reduces Scrubber Inspection Time by 98%, Saving 470 Hours of Work** - Application: Power Generation - Client: Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) The TVA tested the Elios 2 for inspecting a scrubber at one of its power plants and found it not only kept personnel safer but also drastically cut down the inspection time. [Insert Image] Read the full case study [here] to see how the TVA saved 98% of the time required for the scrubber inspection. **$2 Million Saved Using Elios 2 for Oil Tanker Cargo Inspection** - Application: Maritime - Client: Marine Inspection Services, Ltd Marine Inspection Services helped an oil tanker manager save $2 million by using the Elios 2 for a cargo tank inspection during a highly profitable period for oil tankers. [Insert Image] Read the full case study [here] to see how Marine Inspection Services achieved these savings. These are just a couple of the case studies we published in 2020. You can find all of them [here]. Additionally, last year we released two videos highlighting missions that pushed the limits of exploration. The first video features researchers exploring some of the deepest ice caves in the world in Greenland to study the movement of water beneath the ice and its impact on climate change. Check out the video [here] and read more about this mission [here]. The second video shows our Elios 2 being tested at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. This mission helped scientists gather visual data inside Reactor Five, which had never been accessed since the 1986 disaster. Find out more about this mission [here]. Lastly, we continued our efforts from the previous year to produce in-depth guides on topics relevant to our community. Here are some of the guides we published: - NDT (Non-Destructive Testing): What It Is, Common Methods & Industries, and How Drones Can Help - Indoor Drones: What They Are, What They Do, and the Different Types on the Market - Boiler Inspections: What They Are, How They Are Conducted, and How Drones Can Help We put out a total of eleven guides last year. You can see them all [here].
