Dive box in Bolingbrook, 11-25-22
Here's an update from Daniel Hynd: At approximately 12:20 p.m. on November 25, 2022, the Bolingbrook Fire Department received a call about a vehicle that had driven into Whalon Lake at the boat launch. According to 911 reports, there were possibly two people in the car. The driver managed to get out of the vehicle on their own and was later rescued by police before the fire department arrived. When the Bolingbrook FD reached the scene, the car was fully submerged about 100 feet from the shore. A dive team was requested just before their arrival. Divers from MABAS 16 departments conducted a thorough search of the lake. They used a boat, a drone, and sonar technology to locate the vehicle. After about three hours of searching, the vehicle was successfully retrieved from the water. No additional occupants were found inside. The driver was then transported by the Naperville Fire Department to a local hospital for further evaluation. Photos taken by Daniel Hynd capture the scene and the efforts made by emergency responders during this incident. These images provide a visual record of the operation and the dedication of the teams involved.
