Dive box in Bolingbrook, 11-25-22
Here's an update from Daniel Hynd: At approximately 12:20 PM on November 25, 2022, the Bolingbrook Fire Department responded to a call about a vehicle that had driven into Whalon Lake at the boat launch. According to 911 reports, there were possibly two people inside the car. The driver managed to escape the vehicle on their own and was rescued to the shore by local police before the fire department arrived. When the Bolingbrook FD reached the scene, the vehicle was fully submerged about 100 feet from the shore. A dive team was requested just before the fire department’s arrival. Divers from multiple MABAS 16 departments conducted a thorough search of the water. In addition to divers, a boat and a drone were used, along with sonar technology to help locate the vehicle. After about three hours of searching, the vehicle was successfully recovered from the water. No additional occupants were found inside the car. The driver was then transported by the Naperville Fire Department to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. Daniel Hynd captured several photos during the incident, offering a visual account of the emergency response and the efforts made to recover the vehicle. These images highlight the coordination between different agencies and the use of modern technology in such situations. The event serves as a reminder of the importance of quick action and teamwork in rescue operations, especially in water-related emergencies. It also emphasizes the role of advanced tools like drones and sonar in improving the efficiency and safety of search and recovery missions.
