Bridgestone or building a tire factory in Turkey

The reporter learned on September 22, 2013 that Bridgestone has announced that it is considering the construction of a new tire in the region through a joint venture company in Turkey, Brisa Bridgestone Sabanc?Lastik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.?. (brisa). The plant is used to produce passenger car radial tires.

The construction project is still in the evaluation stage. If the project is finalized, the new factory will become Bridgestone’s second tire factory in Turkey. Bridgestone’s only tire factory in Turkey is currently located in Izmit, which manufactures passenger car radial tires and passenger car radial tires.

Bridgestone said that Turkey’s GDP has a relatively high growth rate and the local tire market demand is expected to increase further in the future.

Brisa was established in 1988, Bridgestone and Turkish Hacı Ömer Sabancı Holding A.Ş., both holding 43.63%, and the remaining 12.74% were held by other small shareholders. The company has more than 1,700 employees. Its operating income reached 794 million U.S. dollars last year and its operating profit reached 78 million U.S. dollars.
