Autodesk Launches New Certified Apps Program

When it comes to enhancing your design capabilities with Autodesk software, there's no shortage of complementary applications available to boost functionality. But how do you ensure that the app you choose will deliver the desired outcomes? That’s where the newly launched Autodesk Certified Apps program steps in. Applications from Autodesk partners that earn the prestigious Autodesk Certified logo showcase top-tier quality, seamless compatibility, and robust integration with Autodesk tools. This program, which commenced this month, initially highlights certified apps for Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault. However, this is merely the beginning; additional Autodesk products may soon join the Autodesk Certified Apps family. To understand how combining an Autodesk Certified App with Inventor or Vault can address real-world business challenges, consider the experiences of Fluke Corporation and Elastec/American Marine. Fluke Corporation, a global leader in electronic test equipment manufacturing, transitioned from using PTC Pro/INTRALINK 3.4 (no longer supported by PTC) to Autodesk Vault Professional. Their challenge lay in making this switch without disrupting design and engineering operations. By leveraging an Autodesk Certified App from Nexxtsoft named nxMigrator for Pro/INTRALINK, Fluke successfully migrated one server to a replicated global server setup involving 45 seats and 60GB of engineering data. This move not only streamlined their operations but also saved them over $200K in maintenance costs. Today, Fluke uses Autodesk Vault Professional to efficiently manage its Pro/ENGINEER data. "I don't worry about potential disruptions after work because we have a reliable data management system for Pro/ENGINEER that simply works," says Barry Schaeffer, CAD Manager at Fluke. Elastec/American Marine, renowned for creating innovative oil spill and environmental solutions, recently won the X PRIZE challenge for developing the most effective oil recovery device. To maintain their edge as a responsive manufacturer capable of swiftly adapting to customer demands, they require a flexible workflow. Elastec/American Marine employs Autodesk Inventor alongside an Autodesk Certified App known as FAB Professional from Striker Systems. This combination creates a smooth process from 3D part models to nested 2D sheet metal files for CNC production. This integration allows the company to produce prototypes rapidly, reducing job times from days to mere minutes, and simplifying outsourcing processes. In a special podcast episode of In the Fold, Peter Vinh, Senior Product Manager at Autodesk, discusses the new certification program and outlines the steps necessary for an application to receive certification. For a comprehensive list of currently certified apps, click here. This list will expand over time as more apps achieve certification—so keep checking back regularly. Autodesk's commitment to excellence extends beyond its core software offerings, ensuring that users have access to the best tools available to enhance their workflows and achieve their goals. Whether managing complex data migrations or accelerating production timelines, these certified apps represent a significant advancement in productivity and innovation.
