Over the course of my career, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing firsthand how a robust renderer positioned at the core of the production workflow can truly transform the creative process. The ability for artists to achieve both high quality and rapid results—whether photorealistic or stylized—is absolutely vital in ensuring projects stay on schedule.
With the ongoing surge in streaming services and the increasing demand for episodic content, optimizing rendering performance and having the capability to scale rendering capacity has become indispensable in the realm of television and broadcasting.

Each year, I eagerly anticipate the Engineering Emmy Awards, where the Television Academy celebrates groundbreaking technologies that are instrumental in helping studios adapt to the evolving landscape of TV and broadcast production.
I couldn’t be more thrilled to hear that the team behind Arnold has been recognized this year with an Engineering Emmy for developing a powerful, user-friendly, and high-fidelity ray-traced renderer that's utilized in some of today’s most prominent TV shows.
Arnold creators Marcos Fajardo and principal software engineers Alan King and Thiago Ize accepted the coveted award at the 73rd Engineering Emmys, held on October 21st at the JW Marriott in Los Angeles. Special thanks go out to other key contributors to Arnold, such as Iliyan Georgiev, Ramon Montoya, and Adrien Herubel.
From "Lost in Space" to "Game of Thrones," Arnold is trusted by leading visual effects and animation studios worldwide to bring unforgettable cinematic moments, binge-worthy TV series, and compelling commercials to life.
Arnold empowers artists across every stage of the pipeline—from look development to final-frame rendering—to rapidly create and iterate on content, scale rendering capacity to meet project demands, and efficiently render intricate scenes. Since its introduction in 2019, Arnold GPU, built on NVIDIA’s OptiX framework and optimized to leverage NVIDIA RTX technology, allows artists to seamlessly transition between CPU and GPU rendering to best suit production requirements.
Congratulations to the entire Arnold development team on this well-deserved recognition!

It’s not just about achieving photorealism—it’s about empowering artists to push boundaries and deliver experiences that captivate audiences.
The integration of GPU capabilities into Arnold has opened up new possibilities, allowing studios to handle larger datasets and more complex simulations without compromising speed or quality. This shift aligns perfectly with the growing need for real-time feedback and iterative workflows in modern production environments.
Moreover, Arnold’s versatility extends beyond just rendering. Its support for various formats and compatibility with multiple platforms makes it an invaluable tool for teams working across different mediums. Whether you’re crafting a blockbuster film or a short-form commercial, Arnold offers the flexibility needed to realize your vision.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to see what innovations the Arnold team will introduce next. As we continue to embrace digital storytelling in all its forms, tools like Arnold will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in shaping the future of entertainment.
So, here’s to the relentless pursuit of excellence and the incredible talent behind one of the most influential rendering systems in the industry today. Cheers to Marcos Fajardo, Alan King, Thiago Ize, and the rest of the Arnold family for setting the bar so high!
